Gourmet Nutrition

I received my big, beautiful Gourmet Nutrition cookbook last week and made some of the recipes this weekend. There were so many I wanted to make. I narrowed it down to the Texas Thin Crust Pizza, the Pumpkin Pie Bars, and the Peanut Butter Crunch Bars. I spent all of yesterday afternoon cooking. We had the pizza for dinner last night. It was delicious! The pumpkin pie bars taste just like pumpkin pie. And the Peanut Butter Crunch Bars are chewy and crunchy and peanut buttery. Wait, isn't that a Butterfinger? Well, they were pretty darn tasty! The pictures here are of the "small" servings!

Road Kill and Burger King

My family finally talked me into going to Burger King. I got into the car and was on my way there, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a small, black fluffball. It darted in right in front of my car and if I had been going any faster, or had not braked as quickly as I did, I'm certain I would have created my first road kill. Luckily the little doggie was lightening fast and managed to make it all the way across the road. However, I am most glad that the van behind me was able to stop! Maybe this was God's way of telling me NOT to go to Burger King. LOL

Turbulence Training for Fat Loss

As I mentioned before, I just finished my 12-week transformation contest using Craig Ballantyne's Turbulence Training for Fat Loss. In 12 weeks I lost 14.4lbs, 3.75" from my abdomen, 2.5" from my hips, 4.2% body fat and went from a size 12 to a size 6/8 (depending on the style/brand). Here are my before and after pictures:

I’d always been afraid to buy “e-books” in the past. They just seemed so…impersonal. However, after a plateau in my results, I decided to join the transformation contest. I ordered Turbulence Training…and I found a warm, caring, personable community that I never knew existed! Everyone was great and so supportive! It really inspired me and made me push myself even harder. I got great results and I didn’t have to sacrifice my family to do it. Most of the TT programs are just 45 minutes, 3 times per week. And there are so many different ones to choose from! I did 3 different programs, each 4 weeks long:

weeks 1-4: TT Fit Yummy Mummy workout
weeks 5-8: TT 2K3
weeks 9-12: TT for Abs

TT for Abs was my favorite. It was definitely the most challenging of the 3, but the results were amazing. After my week of rest, I am going to be using the Advanced Level TT for Women. Stay tuned for those results 4 weeks from now!

Age of Aquarius

I probably should introduce myself a little bit. I'm an Aquarius sun, with an Aries rising and a Cancer moon. This make me aloof, yet outgoing, and emotional, yet stoic.

I'm addicted to the Home Shopping Network. I can't help it. It's amazing what you can buy online.

My biggest personal fitness goal is to get to 20% bodyfat. Last I measured, I was at 27% but the scale I was using for my 12-week transformation died immediately after giving me my final measurement. Literally, it gave me my weight and bodyfat %, then never worked again. I bought a new scale and it is inconsistent with what my old scale said. The new scale puts me around 29% which I don't believe as far as I can throw it! I will be posting pictures of my 12-week Turbulence Training transformation soon!

Doughnuts and the Yogurt Bar

This week is my rest week after completing 12 weeks of Turbulence Training (more on that soon). The planets aligned such that my husband was on vacation this week as well. This was bad, very bad. Last week my 3-year-old son looked at me with his big blue eyes and sweetly said, "Mama, can I have a doughnut?" As we only have doughnuts 4 times a year, and I was going to be done with my 12 weeks, I told him that we would get some when Daddy was on vacation. Wednesday was the fateful day. I went and got the doughnuts while everyone else was sleeping. I got home and gently woke up my son for preschool. He opened his eyes and said, "Do we have any bagels?" LOL

Today is my last weekday on my rest week so I decided to try the yogurt bar at the cafeteria here at work. It sounds healthy, right? I started with 1/2c of plain yogurt and added about a tablespoon of blueberries, 1/4c cherry pie filling, 1T walnuts, and about 1T granola. Not sure about the cherry pie filling!

Next week is back to business as usual!

Starting out

First blog...what to say? Give me a few weeks to get the hang of this!
